Position Summary:
The HVAC/Propane Department Manager is a critical management position that will oversee and manage the daily operation of our HVAC and Propane Department in Buckhannon, WV. In this position you will provide technical expertise and leadership to develop and lead a high-performing team. Implement strategic initiatives to meet or exceed sales, margin, and growth objectives, while ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the HVAC & Propane Department. Lead, coach, and develop a team of technicians, drivers, and office personnel. Monitor customer service performance and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Develop, implement, and execute the department's annual business plan and strategic objectives. Conduct monthly and annual inspections of bulk plants and propane storage facilities. Oversee department operations to ensure compliance with all applicable propane, transportation, environmental, and safety regulations. Promote and maintain a safe work environment for employees, customers, equipment, and inventory. Manage fleet assets and ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. Develop staffing plans that effectively accommodate seasonal workload fluctuations. Identify operational challenges and implement solutions to improve efficiency, productivity, and overall team performance. Monitor departmental financial performance, including budgets, margins, and profitability. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
Education:
A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred. A combination of relevant education, technical training, certifications, and industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Experience Minimum of three (3) years of experience in HVAC, propane, petroleum, or a related energy industry. Minimum of one (1) year of leadership or supervisory experience. Previous experience managing daily business operations, budgets, and personnel is preferred. Experience with fleet management, safety compliance, and regulatory oversight is highly desirable. Licenses & Certifications Valid driver's license required. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement, or the ability to obtain. Propane and/or petroleum certifications, or the ability to obtain. Master HVAC or Master Plumbing License, or the ability to obtain. CTEP (Certified Test Measures Proctor) certification, or the ability to obtain. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills. Thorough knowledge of HVAC systems and propane operations. Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and applicable state and federal regulations. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Strong customer service orientation and relationship-building skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business management software. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
