The City of Phoenix Water Services Department, one of the nation's largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.5 million customers across approximately 540 square miles. Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix. The Water Services Department is seeking a Utility Billing Account Clerk III to join the Billing Customer Services Division . This position provides advanced customer account support and plays a key role in delivering excellent customer service, conducting detailed account analysis, and ensuring the accuracy of City Services bills. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive customer service support, including making outbound calls to notify customers of high water consumption or explain billing adjustments. Review and resolve meter read exceptions by researching anomalies, verifying data, and making necessary billing corrections. Perform a wide range of billing adjustments within the CC&B system. Document work thoroughly by creating clear, concise, and accurate account notes to ensure complete and reliable account histories. Apply utility billing policies and procedures to ensure proper and consistent account handling.IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical abilities, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy within the Customer Care & Billing (CC&B) system.They will also demonstrate:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Advanced computer proficiency. Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume customer service environment. The ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish (preferred).SALARY Pay Range:
$21.02 to $31.06 per hour.Hiring Range:
$21.02 to $28.17 per hour.Pay Range Explanation:

Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase. Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease. Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade. When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit. Three years of bookkeeping and clerical accounting experience; including experience in preparing financial reports, supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and accounting. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. The minimum qualifications listed above, plus one year experience in: Microsoft Excel. Utility billing operations. Financial reconciliations. Accounts receivable processes. Research, auditing, and account investigation. Working in a customer service-focused environment. Using computerized accounting systems, including Customer Care & Billing (CC&B). Reconciling receivable and payable statements, reports, logs, and similar documents.
