Job Description
We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to support daily financial operations. This position is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who can manage detailed transactions, maintain accurate records, and assist with a range of billing and payment activities. The role will contribute to accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashiering, reporting, and general clerical accounting tasks while working within established procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Process vendor invoices, verify supporting documentation, and prepare payments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain financial records by updating subsidiary ledgers, entering journal activity, and ensuring account information remains current.
- Reconcile month-end balances and prepare supporting reports that align with the general ledger.
- Enter, retrieve, and organize accounting data to produce routine and ad hoc reports in required formats.
- Research financial details from multiple sources to complete forms, resolve discrepancies, and support reporting needs.
- Assist customers and internal staff by providing accurate information on billing practices, payment procedures, and related policies.
- Manage utility account administration by setting up new services, assigning account details, applying deposits, and addressing past-due balances.
- Receive and post payments for utilities, permits, licenses, citations, and other municipal fees while performing daily cashiering activities.
- Balance daily receipts, prepare audit-support documentation, and complete bank deposit processing with accuracy.
- Perform general office and records support, including reviewing documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with department guidelines.
