The AR clerk performs accounts receivable processes, including cash application, account reconciliation, and customer account support. An ideal candidate applies sound judgment to resolve routine discrepancies, ensures accuracy of financial records, and contributes to efficient team operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for executing Accounts Receivable functions with accuracy and minimal supervision, including but not limited to: Prepare, verify, and post daily customer payments and deposits Issue credit memos and apply adjustments in accordance with established procedures Generate and distribute monthly customer statements Perform account reconciliations for assigned accounts, including higher-volume or priority accounts Investigate and resolve routine discrepancies related to payments, credits, and account balances Communicate with customers via phone and email to address payment inquiries and support collection efforts Submit and track freight claims as needed Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accounting systems and supporting documentation Identify and communicate process inefficiencies, recurring issues, or discrepancies to supervisor Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of AR processes Support cross-training efforts and share knowledge and best practices with team members Perform other duties within the scope of Accounts Receivable functions as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities None Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems Solid understanding of basic accounting principles Strong organizational and time management skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Customer service mindset with the ability to be assertive and professional Ability to identify issues, apply judgment, and escalate non-routine matters appropriately Team player Punctual/show up for work Work independently Training/more collaborative Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required 1-4 years of relevant accounts receivable, accounting, or finance experience
