We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Property Bookkeeper to join our Accounting team and support a portfolio of affordable housing properties. If you enjoy solving problems, working collaboratively, and maintaining accurate financial data, this may be the role for you. Position Summary The Property Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for a designated portfolio of affordable housing properties. This role includes processing and reconciling financial transactions, monitoring cash flow, supporting site teams, and ensuring compliance with affordable housing accounting requirements. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and experience with accounting or property management software. Key Responsibilities Audit daily deposits submitted by site personnel to ensure proper posting in bank accounts and the property management software system. Post daily financial transactions into the accounting system and property management software. Monitor cash flow for multiple property bank accounts. Audit the property management database and general ledger for accuracy; research and correct discrepancies. Process security deposit settlements. Reconcile monthly bank statements. Provide guidance and support to site teams and other internal departments. Assist with the implementation of rent and utility changes. Balance property management software monthly and ensure timely month-end close. Review and prepare property tax bills for payment. Submit required documentation to affordable housing agencies in a timely manner. Participate in special projects as assigned throughout the year. Required Qualifications High School Diploma/GED with 2 years of relevant accounting experience, OR an Associate/Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 0-2 years of experience. Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, SharePoint). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Preferred Qualifications Dependable, professional, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. Strong sense of accountability and openness to feedback. Experience with accounting/property management systems such as RealPage , Timberline , or Yardi . Experience with LIHTC and other affordable housing programs. Experience with bank/credit card reconciliations and general ledger entries. Why Join Us?
