A typical qualifying background would include education equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in accounting, budgeting, business law or a related field and one year experience in public accounting, finance or fiscal record-keeping.Accounting Specialist II :
Generally, any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities is considered qualifying. A typical method of demonstrating these qualifications would include education equivalent to an Associates degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in accounting, budgeting, business law or a related field and two years of experience equivalent to the Accounting SpecialistI. The Business, Facilities, and Operations Division is now accepting applications for Accounting Specialist I/II To distribute revenue from Federal, State, and/to local agencies to school districts within Santa Clara County in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; to perform highly responsible technical accounting functions in the maintenance, reporting, report generation, verification and reconciliation of specialized accounting and payroll records, reports and/or services, and to perform related duties as assigned. This position is full-time, in-person and has a work year of 12 months, 260 days, 8 hours per day This position is an alternate class series. Passing candidates will be screened in as a Level I or Level II based on their education and experience as outlined in the job description and as it relates to the duties of the position. Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for June 18, 2026 . Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list. Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for week of June 26, 2026 . Second interviews may be held in-person. Candidates will be invited over email to participate in examination and selection steps, using the email supplied within their SchoolJobs.com applications, or as updated by candidates in their SchoolJobs.com master profiles.
