Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to support an organization in Stockton, California. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage high-volume payable operations, maintain accuracy in financial records, and contribute to audit-ready processes. The role requires strong knowledge of governmental accounting practices and the ability to work effectively with enterprise finance and document management systems.
Responsibilities:
  • Process invoices accurately and assign correct accounting codes in accordance with established financial procedures.
  • Administer payment activities, including ACH transactions and check runs, while ensuring timeliness and compliance.
  • Reconcile payable records, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues with internal stakeholders and vendors.
  • Support audit preparation by organizing documentation, validating transaction history, and responding to financial record requests.
  • Apply governmental accounting standards to accounts payable tasks and help maintain compliance with public-sector requirements.
  • Use enterprise financial systems and document management platforms to enter, track, and archive payable information.
  • Monitor accounts payable workflows to improve accuracy, strengthen controls, and maintain efficient processing volumes.
