Loveland Housing Authority (LHA) is seeking a motivated Accounting Assistant to support the financial integrity and fiscal operations of a mission-driven affordable housing organization. This role assists with financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and daily accounting activities across multiple properties, housing authorities, and affiliated nonprofit organizations. This is an entry-level, growth-focused opportunity ideal for someone looking to build a career in public sector or affordable housing accounting. Through hands-on experience and mentorship, the Accounting Assistant will develop foundational accounting skills, with responsibilities expanding over time and the opportunity to advance into an Accountant role . This is a full-time regular non-exempt position with a hiring range of $45,400.00 to $54,500 per year depending upon experience. J-n Position Summary:
The Accounting Assistant supports the financial integrity and fiscal operations of Loveland Housing Authority (LHA) by assisting with accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and daily accounting activities. This position provides accounting support across LHA programs, including multiple properties, housing authorities, and affiliated nonprofit organizations. This is an entry-level, developmental position designed to build foundational accounting skills through hands-on experience. As proficiency and knowledge increase, responsibilities will expand, with the opportunity for advancement into an Accountant role. The position requires strong customer service skills, as the Accounting Assistant works regularly with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Job Functions:
Daily:
Respond to vendor requests for payment status Review and Decision Positive Pay items. Record deposits made directly to the bank Monitor AR and AP inboxes to respond to requests or route them to the correct party.
Weekly:
Reconcile deposits recorded to deposits received Post Journal Entries as needed and file appropriate backup Review LaHIP loan balances and ensure they are correctly reflected on the financial statements.
Monthly:
Collect mortgage statements and ensure they match financial records Collect and correctly file financial support documents Assist in the preparation of program workpapers Reconcile bank accounts
Ongoing:
Cultivate positive and productive partnerships with internal colleagues by facilitating open communication, aligning goals, and promoting a culture of mutual support to drive organizational success. Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance financial operations and internal controls. Work with internal and external customers, investors, and auditors to provide support, documentation, and reporting as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
Strong desire to work with a team and help others. Knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and fund accounting principles. Knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required. LHA is willing to consider candidates on track to graduate within one year of starting date. Experience with journal entries, financial reporting and analysis, and other accounting duties is beneficial but not required. Customer service experience preferred.
Background Check:
A criminal history background check is required.
Working Environment:
Work is generally performed in an office environment that may require sitting for extended periods of time, repetitive keyboard motion, reaching, bending, and kneeling. Light physical effort may be required by moving and positioning objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently. Occasionally work will be performed in the field, which may include navigating properties and inclement weather. Work is generally completed during normal office hours but may occasionally include evenings and weekends.
