Full-Time or Part-Time Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper with direct experience in distribution and manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of QuickBooks , a working knowledge of sales tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions , and the ability to manage transactional accounting with precision. This role requires someone who understands inventory-driven businesses, cost flows, and the operational realities of a product-based company.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations (bank, credit card, vendor accounts) Manage and reconcile inventory-related transactions, including COGS and adjustments Process vendor bills, purchase orders, and customer invoices in a distribution/manufacturing workflow Administer payroll support and expense tracking (as needed) Prepare and file sales tax returns across multiple states, ensuring compliance with nexus requirements Assist with month-end and year-end close processes Generate financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and provide insights to management Coordinate with CPA or external accountants for tax filings and audits Maintain organized digital and physical financial records
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of bookkeeping experience in distribution, manufacturing, or product-based businesses Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop and/or Online) Strong understanding of sales tax rules , multi-state filings, and exemptions Experience with inventory accounting and cost tracking (FIFO, average cost, etc.) High level of accuracy and attention to detail Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to handle confidential financial information with integrity
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with ERP or inventory management systems integrated with QuickBooks Familiarity with job costing or custom production environments Prior experience supporting a growing small-to-mid-sized business Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data reconciliation)
