Job Description

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. This vital role involves managing accurate financial records, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for numbers, a strong understanding of accounting principles, and experience working with various accounting software. Join us to contribute to the financial health of our organization while developing your expertise in corporate and non-profit accounting environments. Duties Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms. Maintain a positive and helpful attitude when interacting with others. Keep church matters (e.g., giving information, staff situations, etc.) confidential. Enter all accounts receivable weekly Enter the LGMC employee data required for payroll purposes Pay expenses in a timely fashion, as authorized by the pastor, to include payroll checks every two weeks Obtain two authorized signatures for all checks that are written Maintain accurate records for IRS and audit requirements Print financial reports monthly for the LGMC board meetings to include, but not limited to: Balance sheet, monthly revenue and expense reports, year-to-date revenue and expenses report Reconcile bank statements monthly (verified by the LGMC treasurer) Attend the LGMC monthly Board meeting Supervise and assist as necessary with the weekly counting and recording of monetary gifts to the church. Maintain time sheets of all hours worked performing duties as noted above. Policies This is considered a part-time non-exempt position with flexible hours averaging 10 hours per week. These hours cover hours worked in the office and at home on assigned duties. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent General Knowledge of standard bookkeeping procedures and terminology Previous experience in accounting (desired) Proficent Computer knowledge Ability to perform detailed data entry with accuracy English speaking (knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar, and mathematics) Pass a background check Provide two written references (non-relatives) Attend Child Protection training Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks (desired)
