In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will support the organization's financial health by preparing precise financial statements, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial analysis. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization that values integrity, accuracy, and continuous improvement. Duties Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and other financial accounts regularly to verify accuracy and identify discrepancies Prepare financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for management review Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and account analysis Support regulatory reporting requirements by ensuring compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) standards and other relevant laws Collaborate with auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial data Requirements Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles within non-profit or governmental sectors preferred Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms Deep understanding of GAAP, double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and accrual accounting methods Knowledge of regulatory standards including SOX compliance and securities law is highly desirable Familiarity with financial concepts such as budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash flow management Experience with account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger accounting Excellent analytical skills combined with strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial report writing and interpretation Ability to mentor team members effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills complemented by advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet tools such as Quicken or Accounting software Join us to make a meaningful impact through precise financial management!
