Back To Results Bookkeeper Job Description We are working with a well established firm on the southside of Atlanta that is looking to add an experienced bookkeeper to their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience and must be proficient with QuickBooks.
Position details as follows:
Job Summary:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for recording daily financial transactions, updating a general ledger, and preparing trial balances for review by staff accountants. They will maintain and file requisite documents for taxation compliance, monitor cash flow and produce financial reports to assist managers in making decisions.
Responsibilities:
  • Establish different accounts.
  • Maintain records of financial transactions by posting and verifying.
  • Develop systems to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts.
  • Maintain subsidiary accounts by posting, verifying and allocating transactions.
  • Prepare sales tax and payroll tax returns to file with agencies.
  • Reconcile bank accounts at the end of each month.
  • Handle monthly payroll using accounting software.
  • Maintain high level of ownership over projects and tasks assigned to the role.
  • Reconcile entries to balance subsidiary accounts.
  • Maintain a balanced general ledger.
  • Prepare a trial balance for the accountants.
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing accounting information.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements.
  • Monitor for variances from the projected budget.
  • Advise on compliance needs.
  • Follow relevant regulations, state and federal laws.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to clients by being courteous and friendly.
  • Recognize opportunities to network and participate in business development.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess strong basic accounting knowledge.
  • Able to meet deadlines and possess strong time management skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and other accounting and tax software
  • Must be able to handle sensitive information and manage confidentiality
  • Must be detail-oriented and accurate
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks
  • Must be able to work independently
Education and Experience:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent required
  • BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
  • 3 years of experience as a Bookkeeper preferred This is an excellent opportunity to join a firm experiencing solid growth.
