Job Description

Pay rate: $17-$18 per hour (20 Hours Per Week) Job Summary We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Assistant to join our organization. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting daily office operations, ensuring efficient communication, and providing exceptional customer support. This position requires proficiency in various office management tasks and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor while handling multiple responsibilities. Accounts Payable Assistant Supports the Township Administrator by managing financial and administrative tasks, processing financial data, preparing reports, and assisting with accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Entry and Record Keeping:
Recording financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, ensuring data integrity.
Invoice Processing and Payments:
Processing invoices, making payments, reconciling accounts.
Financial Reporting:
Preparing financial statements, reports, budgets, and audits.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicating with vendors, clients, trustees, and other stakeholders.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
Identifying and resolving discrepancies, and financial data.
Compliance:
Ensuring compliance with the county standards and regulatory requirements. Other Duties as assigned including assisting with payroll, expense reports, auditing records and other tasks . A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or a related field is required. A master's degree preferred.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of accounting software is a plus. At least 2 years of accounts payable and budgeting experience. Candidates must have a basic understanding of accounting and bookkeeping, strong mathematical skills, computer proficiency, attention to detail, and time-management skills. Candidates must maintain a high level of confidentiality and possess the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Local government budgeting and finance experience is preferred.
Additional Qualifications:
Budget Forecasting. Auditing & Reconciliation experience. Excellent verbal and written skills. Excellent organizational skills. Must be computer literate and possess sufficient typing skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to work independently.

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • This position is subject to a background check.
  • Preference may be given to Edwardsville Township residents.

Pay:
