Job DescriptionJob Description Accounting Assistant - Schaumburg, IL $60,000 - $65,000 + Full Benefits, 401(k), PTO | Hybrid For over 70 years, our client has been a trusted provider of lifestyle consumer products, offering a diverse portfolio including fashion accessories, seasonal goods, home accents, and everyday essentials. They are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Assistant to support daily financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in AP, AR, and billing who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and takes pride in accuracy and ownership. Key Responsibilities Support full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate transactions Review, code, and process vendor invoices; ensure proper approvals and on-time payments Post payment remittances (electronic and manual) and process credit card payments and refunds Manage billing activities, including invoice reporting, adjustments, and discrepancy resolution Research and resolve payment issues, including misapplied payments and customer/vendor inquiries Perform bank and account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies Assist with month-end close, audits, and general ledger adjustments Maintain accurate records within accounting/ERP systems and ensure data integrity Conduct basic account analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance (including SOX considerations) Communicate with internal teams and external partners to resolve billing and payment questions Organize and maintain financial documentation and provide general support to the accounting team Qualifications 2+ years of accounting experience (AP, AR, billing, or similar) High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred Working knowledge of general accounting principles and processes Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP systems Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proactive, dependable, and team-oriented with a "go-getter" mindset
