We are seeking an Accounts Payable Associate to join our Accounting and Finance team—someone who is highly organized, experienced in account reconciliation, and knowledgeable in QuickBooks. This role is essential in ensuring accurate financial records, timely payments, and strong stewardship of the resources entrusted to our ministry. The ideal candidate will have experience managing accounts payable processes, reconciling accounts and statements, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining accurate financial data in QuickBooks. Position Summary:
The Director of Development is a strategic, relationship-driven leader who advances MorningStar Mission's impact by inspiring generosity, building community partnerships, and securing resources for lasting ministry growth. This key leadership role is an opportunity to combine faith, purpose, and fundraising to transform lives throughout Will County.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review, process, and enter invoices and purchase orders into the accounting system, ensuring proper documentation, coding, and approvals. Perform monthly account reconciliations and maintain accurate accounts payable records, reports, and vendor files. Prepare, print, and distribute payments/checks in accordance with established procedures and approvals. Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner. Support the Director of Finance with annual audits, year-end reporting requirements, and other assigned accounting duties while upholding the Christian values and mission of MorningStar Mission.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining financial records. Knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting principles, including accounts payable and account reconciliation functions. High level of integrity, reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, and the ability to learn additional accounting software systems. Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and a commitment to serving others.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
At least 2 years' accounting related experience is required, preferably in non-profit. A high school diploma at a minimum. Associates or Bachelors in a related field preferred Experience with QuickBooks. This position is 100% on-site, Joliet, IL, with flexibility based on a schedule of 20 hours per week.
