Job Description

Teche Health, A Federally Qualified Health Center, per Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act, is currently seeking qualified applicants for a General Ledger Clerk at our Franklin location in Franklin, Louisiana. Job Summary To assist the Controller by performing a variety of general ledger and related functions associated with the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, including review of MIP Accounting Software sub-ledger accounts, preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Prepares and creates recurring monthly entries and templates, including but not limited to the following: prepaids, fixed assets, grants receivables and other adjusting journal entries. Reconciles bank statements to general ledger. Prepares entries for all front desk payments for all sites. Assists in the day-to-day operations of accounts payable. Reviews and approves the coding of accounts payable vouchers for processing according to approved budgets. Assists the Controller in preparing monthly financial statements. Assists in the preparation of all required documentation by the auditors. Reconciles trial balance accounts on a monthly basis. Assists with the accounting for and preparation of reports in conjunction with Federal and State grant assistance programs. Researches and resolve complex accounting issues relating to accounts payable and payroll. Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required. Assists in the yearly 1099 and W-2 process. Assists with maintenance of the fixed asset records and performs annual inventory of property as required by management. Assists with the credit card procedures. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:
Principles of accounts payable, accounts receivable and/or accounting. Principles of file and records management. General ledger reports. Invoice processing from receipt of invoices to payment.
Skill in:
Reading, understanding and implementing applicable parish, state and federal statues, rules, ordinances, codes, administrative orders, case law, policies and procedures. Preparing reports and presentations for internal and external audiences. Organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects. Working with deadlines to complete projects and assignments. Establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, staff, vendors, contractors and others having business with the organization. Cooperative and willing to assist others. Operating software applications, i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook and accounting software.
Ability to:
Maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing general ledger documents. Practice good time management skills. Adapt to changing roles and responsibilities. Organize and prioritize tasks to meet strict deadlines. Work effectively within a team environment. Work flexible hours, as required. Experience:
A high school diploma or GED AND a minimum of three (3) years of relevant accounting, auditing and/or fiscal administration.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee may be exposed to potential physical harm, infectious diseases and stressful situations. The employee may be required to lift and/or carry heavy, bulky supplies, materials, and/or other items weighing up to 40 pounds. This position is in a busy, open area office with constant interruptions and must meet with others on a regular basis. The employee may be required to work outside the traditional work schedule.
