As we continue to grow, we are looking for a diligent and hardworking individual with an entrepreneurial spirit to join our team for day-to-day accounting and to support the financial requirements of our portfolio. Excellent organizational skills, confidentiality, and attention to detail are important qualifications for this position, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate is a skilled multi-tasker, self-motivated, is reliable, and requires minimal supervision. In this position, you will play a key role in managing the finances of our business and become proficient with Appfolio; the current and widely utilized property management software in our industry.
Job Overview:
You will report to the principal and senior staff directly while supporting the team by providing full cycle bookkeeping and financial services including accounts payable, accounts receivables, payroll, client and vendor management, collections and bank reconciliations, as well as weekly, monthly and year-end financial reporting. You will collaborate closely with real estate agents and property managers from various departments. Our small, dedicated team of 15 members ensures a close-knit work atmosphere.Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
Execute payments for owner related utilities, mortgages, property taxes, condominium dues, vendors, and net payments to owners either by check or electronically. Use our management software to produce detailed monthly expense reports showing all income and expenses, rent rolls, delinquency reports, profit and loss reports, etc. for each building/ owner. Conduct monthly reconciliations of 60+ bank accounts, company credit cards, and outside vendor/supplier charge accounts to ensure their accuracy. Prepare annual budgets, expense and projection reports, and all tax related documents for owners. Prepare bank draws for construction and renovation budgets, calculate variances and report significant issues to management. Record cash receipts and make bank deposits. Process biweekly Payroll for all salaried and hourly employees and contractors. Prepare and distribute annual W-2s and 1099s. Monitor office related expenses. Provide information to the external accountant who creates the company's financial statements Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system, following all company accounting policies and procedures Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.Desired Qualifications:
An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent business, as well as a strong knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles. Experience working in accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and payroll reports. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Quickbooks. A preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of property management accounting software. Have a general knowledge of Apple computers.
