at Robert Half in Kennebunk, Maine, United States Job Description Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support financial operations for a legal organization in Kennebunk, Maine. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can maintain accurate records, manage daily accounting activities, and keep financial information organized and up to date. The right candidate will bring strong experience with core bookkeeping functions and confidence working within QuickBooks.
Responsibilities:
- Record and maintain day-to-day financial transactions with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
- Process vendor invoices, prepare payments, and monitor outgoing obligations to ensure accounts payable activities remain current.
- Track incoming payments, issue invoices as needed, and follow up on outstanding balances to support accounts receivable operations.
- Reconcile bank statements and internal financial records regularly to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate account balances.
- Use QuickBooks to enter, review, and organize accounting data, generating reports when needed for financial oversight.
- Assist with maintaining orderly documentation for financial records, ensuring information is accessible and audit-ready.
- Review bookkeeping entries for accuracy and resolve inconsistencies in a timely manner to support reliable reporting. Requirements
- Proven experience performing bookkeeping functions in a detail-oriented business environment.
- Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks for daily accounting and financial record management.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Experience completing bank reconciliations with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate financial records and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and a dependable approach to handling confidential financial information.
