We are looking for a Senior Accounting Specialist to prepare and reconcile bank wide financial records and reports based out of our office in Norway, ME . This is a key position in providing timely and accurate financial statement closings and reporting. You will be performing/assisting with investment accounting, fixed asset accounting, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, wholesale funding, maintenance of FDICIA Internal Controls program and other daily accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities include:
Commitment to maintaining internal control documentation and systems to comply with the FDICIA Internal Controls program Maintains reconciliation and proof activities to ensure that the bank's general ledger is complete and accurate by maintaining the month-end reconciliation workbook. Assists finance managers with account research, audit requests, and special projects as needed Assists in the preparation of supporting materials for various financial statement and internal audits and regulatory examinations. Posts general journal entries. Completes daily and monthly account reconciliations as assigned. Performs daily Accounts Payable activities to provide for appropriate dual verification controls or other capacity, as requested. Provides a high level of internal and external customer service. Maintains knowledge of sales, use, and property tax compliance issues and regulations as they relate to financial institution products and services As part of the Finance team you will also be cross trained in other aspects of accounting to support the department. . What you should bring to the position: Requires knowledge in accounting for financial institution activities, corporate tax, fixed assets, payroll and investments under GAAP. Experience preparing financial statements, including required disclosures preferred. 4 year degree in accounting, business or finance or the equivalent combination of education and work experience are required. Knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures preferred. Experience working in a financial institution preferred. Strong analytical, verbal, mathematical and written communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Power Point. Proactive self-starter, inquisitive, curious, and observant. Ability to work in-office in Norway, ME. .
