Job Summary:
The Dearborn Country Club is seeking a dedicated and skilled Accounting Specialist to ensure the timely and accurate processing and maintenance of accounts receivable and billing. This role is vital in maintaining positive member relations and ensuring financial accuracy within the club's operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update master files for each member, ensuring accurate family data. Verify and reconcile daily transactions from club outlets, including Food & Beverage, Golf, and Aquatics. Audit POS F&B sales tickets, daily tee sheets, banquet sales, and pool usage fees, posting charges to member accounts. Assist in verifying and posting reciprocal charges from other clubs. Respond to member inquiries regarding billing, research discrepancies, and process member adjustments with proper approval. Process member check payments, ACH, and credit card payments. Perform month-end close procedures, including data verification, report generation, statement mailing, and finalizing accounts. Maintain the monthly aging report, review overdue accounts, and contact members regarding delinquent balances over 30 days. Conduct monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts. Handle new memberships, membership category changes, and resignations in club management software. Generate ad-hoc financial reports for management and the Board of Governors. Assist the Controller with year-end audit preparation. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
Previous experience in accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or financial administration required. Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage professionally with club members. Proficiency in membership management software, accounting systems, and Microsoft Office. Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in a private club, hospitality, or service-based industry is preferred. A Business or Accounting degree is preferred; a high school diploma or GED is required.
