Job Description

Accounts Payable Specialist $44,234 - $59,279/
Year Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance Life Insurance Paid Time Off Pension Plan Duties:
Responsible for daily accounts payable operations within the Financial Services department, including the resolution of issues related to purchase orders, invoices, and vouchers. Processes vouchers for purchase orders and uses vouchering system to ensure proper invoice payment; confirms invoice numbers, deducts taxes if necessary, and checks for discounts. Verifies vendor details, payment coding, and funding numbers. Prepares vouchers for both standard and contract-based payments, including those requiring manual checks to capture discounts. Conducts quality control by confirming receipt of goods/services, obtaining departmental payment approval, reviewing vendor statements, and resolving issues such as duplicate payments or missing purchase order numbers. Provides guidance to departments on procurement compliance and assists vendors with payment procedures. Acts as back-up to the Accounting Coordinator; posts daily receipts deposited by the County Treasurer to financial institutions within appropriate accounts. Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business or accounting; OR Associate degree in business or accounting, and two years of increasingly responsible accounting and/or payables experience in a commercial, governmental, or industrial organization; OR High school diploma or equivalent and four years of increasingly responsible accounting and/or payables experience in a commercial, governmental, or industrial organization.
Special Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid vehicle operator's license throughout the course of employment. This position may be required to work extended workdays as needed at busy times, such as month-ends and year-end. Considerable knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point is desired.
