Job Description
Summary:
The Automotive Title Clerk is responsible for managing and processing all paperwork related to vehicle titles and registrations. This role involves ensuring compliance with Michigan state laws and regulations, maintaining accurate records, and providing excellent customer service to clients and dealerships.Reports To:

Title Processing:
Prepare and process vehicle title applications, transfers, and registrations. Verify accuracy and completeness of title documents and ensure they comply with Michigan state laws. Handle title corrections and duplicate title requests. Process Computerized Vehicle Registration (CVR) documents for all purchases.Record Maintenance:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all title and registration transactions. Update and manage electronic and physical files related to vehicle titles and registrations. Maintain Police Book records.Dealership Service:
Assist the individual dealerships with inquiries related to vehicle titles, registrations, and documentation. Resolve issues and answer questions regarding title status and registration processes. Post new vehicles into accounting.Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure all transactions adhere to Michigan Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) regulations and guidelines. Prepare and submit reports related to title transactions and compliance as required.Coordination and Communication:
Collaborate with dealership staff, lenders, and government agencies to facilitate smooth title transactions. Communicate effectively with customers to provide updates and obtain necessary documentation.Administrative Duties:
Process payments related to title fees, taxes, and registration. Perform data entry tasks and manage office supplies related to title processing. Balance daily cash and credit card transactions. Other office duties as needed.Training and Support:
Stay updated on changes in state regulations and BMV procedures. Provide training and support to new staff members as needed.Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; some post-secondary education in business or a related field is a plus.Experience:
Previous experience in automotive title processing is highly desirable.Knowledge:
Understanding of Michigan DMV regulations and title processing procedures is highly desirable.Skills:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Proficient in using office software (e.g., MS Office) and title processing systems. Good communication and interpersonal skills The dealership is an "at-will" employer, meaning that your employment has no specific term, and that the employment relationship may be terminated at any time at the will of either party on notice to the other.
