Job Description

Come join our Team!!!!! The accounting team consists of five professionals who all report to the Chief Financial Officer. The team is based in Kansas City, MO and St. Marys, Kansas, working on-site 4-5 days per week. Hours vary by location. The standard work week is 40 hours. The environment is collaborative, close-knit, and mission-driven, offering the opportunity to contribute directly to a smaller, highly engaged finance and accounting team. The Accounting Specialist supports the daily financial operations of the organization by handling a mix of accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash reconciliations, and related accounting activities. The position works closely with a small, collaborative accounting team to maintain accurate financial records and support the organization's mission-driven financial services. Key Responsibilities Perform daily operational accounting activities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash reconciliations. Assist with posting customers' payments in a timely and accurate manner. Assist with balancing cash to transactions and promptly investigate and resolve discrepancies. Support accounts payable processing, including reviewing invoices, preparing payments, and maintaining accurate records. Assist with monthly close activities by compiling data, preparing entries, and supporting related accounting processes. Complete assigned tasks and provide documentation to support the annual audit of the organization's financial statements. Collaborate closely with the CFO and other team members to ensure accurate general ledger entries and reconciliations. Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records to support reporting and decision-making. Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity. Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as assigned Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 3+ years of experience in accounts receivable or general accounting Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and principles Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (ERP experience a plus) High level of accuracy and attention to detail Strong organizational and time-management skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications At least 2 years of accounting experience with a mix of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash reconciliations. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Hands-on experience with accounts payable processes, including invoice handling and payment preparation. Hands-on experience with accounts receivable processes, including cash application and payment posting. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail. Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a small accounting team and communicate clearly with colleagues.
Pay:
$22.00 - $26.00 per hour
