Job Description

Get Home Soon Residential Treatment Facility Associate Professional Position Summary The Associate Professional assists in the provision, implementation, and coordination of residential and community-based services for children and adolescents ages 7-21. Services are delivered in accordance with each youth's Person-Centered Plan (PCP), treatment goals, Medicaid requirements, and North Carolina residential licensing standards. Under the supervision of the Qualified Professional, the Associate Professional supports behavioral stabilization, emotional regulation, skill development, supervision, and continuity of care within a structured, trauma-informed therapeutic environment. The Associate Professional implements individualized interventions and skill-building activities that promote daily functioning, social development, independent living skills, positive decision-making, and community participation. The Associate Professional also provides supervision and support during community outings, appointments, recreational activities, and off-site services while ensuring safety and alignment with treatment goals and behavioral expectations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Service Implementation Implement individualized treatment interventions and behavior support strategies outlined in each youth's Person-Centered Plan. Support youth in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, social skills, communication skills, daily living skills, and independent living skills. Promote self-determination, accountability, positive youth development, and healthy decision-making through structured and therapeutic interactions. Provide supervision and support during daily routines, appointments, community outings, recreational activities, and off-site services. Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for youth at all times. Behavioral Support Implement behavior support plans and approved de-escalation techniques as directed by the Qualified Professional. Respond to youth experiencing emotional distress or behavioral escalation in a calm, supportive, and therapeutic manner. Monitor the physical environment to identify safety concerns, behavioral triggers, and potential risks. Assist with crisis intervention and follow agency safety procedures when necessary. Staff Collaboration & Communication Work collaboratively with Direct Support Professionals and treatment team members to ensure consistency in supervision and service delivery. Participate in treatment team meetings, staffing meetings, and planning meetings as assigned. Provide guidance and modeling to direct care staff regarding appropriate interventions, supervision practices, and professional conduct. Communicate relevant behavioral, clinical, and operational information to supervisory staff in a timely manner. Documentation & Compliance Complete accurate, objective, and timely documentation related to services provided, youth behaviors, incidents, supervision activities, and progress toward treatment goals. Monitor completion of required logs, behavior tracking tools, sleep logs, and operational records. Minimum Qualifications Meets North Carolina Associate Professional qualification standards. Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Experience working with children or adolescents with behavioral, emotional, or mental health needs preferred. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Ability to pass required background checks and hiring requirements. Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of trauma-informed care and person-centered practices. Ability to effectively engage and supervise youth in residential and community settings. Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to remain calm and professional during crisis situations. Ability to implement treatment interventions and behavioral strategies consistently. Knowledge of confidentiality requirements, client rights, and professional ethics. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Physical Requirements Ability to supervise active youth in residential and community environments. Ability to safely respond to behavioral crises and emergency situations. Ability to transport youth to appointments and activities as required. Ability to complete physical components of approved crisis intervention techniques. Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move throughout the workday. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed. Work Environment The Associate Professional works within a residential treatment setting serving youth with behavioral, emotional, and mental health needs. Duties may include indoor and outdoor activities, transportation responsibilities, crisis response, and participation in community-based programming.
