BOOKKEEPER
Ellendale School of Innovation and Inquiry General Statement of Job The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial and payroll records for the school and ensuring compliance with district financial procedures. Duties include receipting and recording payments, requesting and processing purchase orders, preparing financial reports, maintaining accounting records, and processing payroll-related documentation. Additionally, the Bookkeeper also provides general clerical and administrative support in the school office, assists staff and visitors, and helps ensure the efficient daily operation of the school. This is a full-time, 12-month position. Required qualifications Associate Degree or higher, preferred, or strong related experience. Applicant must hold a valid NC state driver's license. Applicant must be eligible to obtain a CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. If an employee is unable to obtain a CDL with P/S endorsements for any reason, this could result in recommendation for dismissal. Essential duties and responsibilities Maintain and process all purchase order requisitions using the LINQ system. Maintain all local, state, and school accounts. Reconcile all state and local accounts to the LINQ Spreadsheets. Maintain absences of all school employees using the substitute calling system Enter absences of all school employees on the Timekeeper/LINQ system, edit absence reports. Maintain and process hourly employee timesheets. Process all accounts payables and receivables. Reconcile school bank account. Collect and receipt money that comes in from fundraisers, athletic games, dances and other activities. Make daily bank deposits. Process end of year reports for auditing purposes. Maintain school vendor list. Coordinate and schedule repairs for office equipment. Additional duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal and/or assistant principal. Must be willing to drive a daily bus route or substitute for a driver when requested by the principal or designee. Essential knowledge and abilities Strong computer skills. Sound knowledge of bookkeeping practices. Willingness to learn new skills. Must be able to perform duties with accuracy and under minimal supervision. Professionalism and ability to assure confidentiality regarding all matters and information. Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently. Must have strong interpersonal skills and requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Ability to perform all basic office functions and must be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, calculators, pencils, scissors, etc. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
