Accounting Specialist Location:
South Omaha, NE (In-Office)
Schedule:
Monday-Friday Salary:
$60,000-$65,000 per year

Full-Time Position Overview We are seeking a highly detail-driven Accounting Specialist who takes pride in accuracy, ownership, and maintaining high standards in financial operations. This role is a key control point for accounting and payroll processes, ensuring financial data is correct, complete, and audit-ready. This position is ideal for someone who naturally spots discrepancies, enjoys solving problems at their source, and prefers working with precision and accountability. You will have direct ownership over timekeeping accuracy, AP/AR integrity, and payroll readiness. If you value doing things right the first time, working independently, and strengthening systems through careful review and analysis, this role will be a strong fit.
Core Responsibilities:
Financial Accuracy & Controls Own the accuracy and completeness of AP and AR processing from entry through reconciliation Review financial data for discrepancies and resolve issues before they impact reporting or payroll Maintain audit-ready financial and vendor documentation Ensure financial records are organized, accurate, and reliable Timekeeping & Payroll Readiness Serve as the internal checkpoint for daily time punch accuracy Identify inconsistencies and resolve them proactively with supervisors Ensure payroll data is clean and submission-ready each cycle Prevent recurring errors by addressing root causes Analysis & Process Improvement Spot patterns, errors, or inefficiencies in financial processes Recommend improvements that strengthen accuracy and internal controls Support cost awareness by tracking labor and material data Review purchasing activity for accuracy and cost control Professional Communication Communicate clearly and directly when issues are identified Follow through on open items until fully resolved Collaborate with leadership and external partners as needed Qualifications Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Experience with payroll or timekeeping systems preferred Ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Comfortable addressing discrepancies and asking questions Who Thrives in This Role This role is a strong fit for someone who: Notices small errors others miss Takes pride in clean, accurate work Prefers ownership over micromanagement Enjoys solving problems at the root cause Values structure, precision, and accountability Follows tasks through to full resolution Why Join Us Stable, full-time position with clear expectations Competitive salary based on experience High-trust environment with autonomy in your work Opportunity to strengthen and improve financial systems Direct impact on operational accuracy and business performance Collaborative team that values reliability and quality
