Job Description

About the
Position:
This is a part-time, hourly position (8-16 hours/week). The Bookkeeper is responsible for implementing and/or maintaining the organization's accounting system and responsible for the day to day accounting, such as journal entries, processing invoices, account reconciliations and bank deposits. The bookkeeper also keeps records of assets and liabilities and assists with the preparations of financial statements and reports. The bookkeeper maintains volunteer hours and records for tax reporting and works with the accountant in preparing annual tax returns. For the right candidate, we see this position growing with increased hours to help with other administrative tasks as needed.
Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
Enter and maintain all payables and receivables for operations; Enter accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll into Quickbooks; Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements; Work with our outside accountant to maintain and provide all documents necessary for tax filings, and prepare for annual 1099 and annual 990 tax filing and workman's comp annual audit and filing; Prepare and file annual tax exemption paperwork for the town of Lancaster; Prepare monthly closing statements, P&L, and Balance Sheet for board meetings; Coordinate with the Executive Director to provide the necessary structure and adjustments for building annual budget; Maintain all insurance records, payments, and renewals; Work with Marketplace staff to track coupons - paid and donated; Track scholarships, Local Food Fund dollars, and Taproot Eats Local Rewards; Work with Marketplace staff to prepare Taproot Eats Local Rewards annual dividend letters; Maintain volunteer hours and records for tax filing; Assemble and produce various non-standard reports for expenses, donations, statistics as requested by the Executive Director; Accomplish other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
Have knowledge of and experience with a cloud-based Point of Sale (POS) database. Taproot utilizes Revel for all receivables and for our donor database; Have knowledge and experience working with QuickBooks Online; Have knowledge and experience working with Google Drive; Have knowledge and experience with software by Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheet programs using formulas and pivot tables; Experience with Mailchimp, Canva, and digital marketing; Excellent verbal and written communication skills, maintaining transparency in all procedures; Ability to communicate respectfully to donors; Ability to know and demonstrate a working knowledge of all aspects of Taproot and its mission and programs; Ability to multi-task.
Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
