Job Description

Job Category URA-AFT Administrative Overview The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Accounting Assistant I for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Among the key duties of this position are the following: Processes various financial documents and data. Analyzes data and prepares internal financial reports consistent with a basic understanding of the mission, vision, role and goals of the Business Unit and the tasks and responsibilities of the Accounting Assistant I with respect to achieving business unit goals. Works under direct supervision, with specific instructions on routine or semi-routine work and established work parameters for the unit. Work is usually reviewed upon completion. Performs professional work requiring knowledge of general accounting principles and practices and the basic application and use of concepts, theories and terminology of accounting.

ABP Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices. Certifications/Licenses This position requires HIPAA certification, may be obtained after date of hire. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work with a diverse group of people, strong organizational skills, demonstrated ability to work with on a team, strong attention to detail, and a sense of urgency. Good communication skills, computer literacy, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a professional manner. Strong ability and desire to learn new information systems and help operations utilize them to improve efficiency.
