Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to support a variety of client engagements while building a long-term career in a collaborative consulting environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to contribute across diverse accounting projects and work closely with clients in New York. The ideal candidate brings strong bookkeeping expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to keep financial operations accurate, organized, and on schedule.
Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day accounting activity by maintaining the general ledger and managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and account reconciliations. Prepare monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow summaries, and review results for accuracy and completeness. Execute month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial records are properly finalized. Support budgeting efforts by helping develop financial plans, tracking performance against budget, and identifying areas for improved cost control. Work with external tax professionals or internal stakeholders to organize records and provide accurate documentation needed for tax preparation and filing support. Maintain compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and applicable financial policies and regulatory requirements. Record financial transactions with a high level of precision and perform necessary adjustments to keep books current and reliable. Partner with clients and internal teams to communicate financial information clearly, answer questions, and provide dependable bookkeeping support across engagements. At least 3 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience with full-charge accounting responsibilities. Proficiency with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or comparable systems. Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management. Strong understanding of financial reporting principles and close process procedures. High attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and handle data entry carefully. Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities. Strong communication and client service skills, with the ability to work effectively across different business environments. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; bookkeeping certification is a plus.
