About the
Role:
The Accounting Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the finance department by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. This position is responsible for maintaining detailed financial records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with payroll and tax-related activities. The Accounting Assistant contributes to the overall financial health of the organization by managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple accounting functions efficiently. Ultimately, the Accounting Assistant helps facilitate smooth financial operations that support strategic decision-making and business growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Accounting or related field preferred. Proven experience with bank reconciliation, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes. Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software. Basic understanding of general accounting principles and payroll tax regulations. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Experience with cost accounting and advanced QuickBooks functionalities. Familiarity with payroll tax filing and compliance requirements. Prior experience working in a corporate finance or accounting department. Certification such as Certified Bookkeeper or similar credentials.
Responsibilities:
Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy between company records and bank statements. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in a timely manner. Maintain and update general ledger accounts and assist with account reconciliations. Utilize QuickBooks software to record financial data and generate reports. Assist with cost accounting activities and support payroll tax processing and compliance. Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information and resolve discrepancies. Prepare documentation and support for audits and financial reviews.
