Job Description

We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to support payroll and accounting operations for a construction contractor in Garden, City New York. This is a Contract position suited to an early-career accounting specialist who is comfortable handling detailed records and working with prevailing wage documentation. The ideal candidate will help maintain accurate payroll and invoice information while supporting day-to-day financial administration.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain certified payroll records in compliance with prevailing wage requirements for construction projects.
  • Enter payroll, billing, and related financial data into accounting systems with a high level of accuracy.
  • Review timesheets and supporting documents to confirm completeness and alignment with wage reporting standards.
  • Assist with processing invoices and organizing backup documentation for payment and audit purposes.
  • Reconcile payroll and accounting information by identifying discrepancies and escalating issues when needed.
  • Support the accounting team with routine clerical tasks, file maintenance, and records management.
  • Communicate with internal staff to gather missing payroll or invoice details and keep reporting current.
