Accounting Specialist Level IV (Travel & Expense Specialist) Job Summary We are seeking a Travel & Expense Specialist for a contract opportunity supporting a Travel Accounting team in Poway, CA. This role is ideal for an experienced T&E professional who enjoys reviewing employee expense reports, processing reimbursements, resolving travel expense questions, and ensuring compliance with accounting and company policies. This opportunity offers the chance to work in a structured aerospace and defense environment with a collaborative accounting team, supportive leadership, and clear processes. The Travel & Expense Specialist will play an important role in helping employees receive accurate and timely reimbursements while maintaining strong compliance standards. This is a great fit for someone who is detail-oriented, service-focused, analytical, and comfortable working with Concur, SAP, Excel, and travel-related accounting documentation. Key Responsibilities
- Review, process, and audit employee Travel & Expense reports and reimbursement requests for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance.
- Evaluate travel-related expenses for allowable and unallowable costs, proper documentation, and adherence to accounting or reimbursement policies.
- Communicate with employees and administrators to resolve expense report questions, missing documentation, discrepancies, and non-routine issues.
- Perform travel accounting activities, including transaction entry, monitoring, coordination, reporting, and summarizing accounting results.
- Maintain Excel files, download data from accounting systems, prepare reports, and format information for review and tracking.
- Provide customer service and administrative support to accounting and travel team members while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Compensation and Benefits
