Our life together is rooted in worship, service, and connection. We seek a Bookkeeper who will help steward the financial life of the church with care, accuracy, and integrity. Position Summary The Bookkeeper supports the financial operations of the parish, ensuring that all income and expenses are accurately recorded and reported. This role works closely with the Treasurer, Rector, and staff to maintain clear financial systems and consistent procedures. Key ResponsibilitiesContributions & Income Management Receive and process weekly offerings in coordination with volunteer counters Post contributions in the church database, ensuring accurate designation of pledged, non-pledged, and restricted gifts Maintain and review pledge and contribution records for accuracy Accounts Payable & Financial Operations Maintain vendor files, including W-9s and required documentation Review and process invoices and reimbursements, ensuring proper documentation and approvals Generate accounts payable checks and document electronic payments Coordinate with the Treasurer to ensure timely and accurate payment of all expenses Accounting & Reporting Record transactions and prepare journal entries, including month-end adjustments, in Realm (our SOR) Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis Assist with year-end processes and audit preparation Systems, Compliance, and Collaboration Maintain accounting systems and records to support financial postings Pull reports from the payroll system to support semi-monthly and monthly payroll postings Ensure compliance with church policies, applicable regulations, and support best practices Work closely with the Treasurer, Rector, and Parish Administrator Provide guidance to volunteers involved in financial processes, including plate offering counters Qualifications Required Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial administration Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information Familiarity with accounting software and basic financial reporting Preferred Experience in a church or nonprofit setting Familiarity with pledge-based giving systems, such as Realm Comfort working with volunteers and multiple stakeholders Approach to the Work Organized and attentive to detail A clear and thoughtful communicator Collaborative in working with staff and volunteers Able to approach the work with both professionalism and a spirit of service Compensation & Schedule $22-$25/hour for 15 hours/week, hourly compensation commensurate with experience On-site presence required for Monday plate count processes and weekly staff meeting
