Orange City, IA (open to remote work) Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day financial transactions and records. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial data, reconciling accounts, managing accounts payable and receivable, and producing monthly financial reports to support our business growth. This role offers flexible hours and requires strong, independent work habits.
Core Responsibilities Recording Transactions:
Accurately enter and categorize daily transactions (sales, purchases, expenses) into accounting software.
Accounts Payable/Receivable:
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing clients, processing vendor payments, and following up on collections.
Reconciliation:
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
Payroll Processing:
Process bi-weekly payroll, including calculating wages, tax deductions, and benefits, in compliance with regulations.
Financial Reporting:
Generate monthly financial reports, including Profit & Loss (P&L), balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Compliance & Tax Preparation:
Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations; prepare documentation for sales tax and assist with year-end tax preparation.
Record Keeping:
Maintain digital and physical filing systems for all financial documentation.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Proven experience as a bookkeeper or similar accounting role (minimum [2+] years preferred).
Software Proficiency:
Hands-on experience with [QuickBooks Online/Xero] and MS Office (specifically Excel).
Technical Knowledge:
Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles (GAAP).
Detail-Oriented:
Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Organizational Skills:
Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines independently.
