Job Description
Job Summary We are a growing CPA firm located in a professional office setting in St. Petersburg, FL, seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with small business clients and wants to grow with a firm long-term. The position will begin as on-site for the first 90 days to support onboarding, training, and relationship building. After that period, a hybrid work arrangement may be available based on performance and trust. We are open to both part-time candidates , with potential to grow into a full-time role for the right individual. Responsibilities Maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients across various industries Perform detailed bank and credit card reconciliations Review, clean up, and correct QuickBooks Online files (including historical cleanup projects) Misclassified loan payments Improper recording of payroll transactions (wages, payroll taxes, liabilities) Balance sheet inconsistencies and unreconciled accounts Ensure payroll transactions tie correctly to supporting reports (e.g., W-3 and payroll filings) Record and properly account for more complex transactions (e.g., asset purchases, loans, and sale of rental or fixed assets ) Assist with and file sales tax and payroll tax returns (training available for the right candidate) Prepare and review monthly financial statements Work with clients to gather information and clarify bookkeeping issues Manage multiple clients and deadlines with accuracy and organization Maintain clean, audit-ready books in QuickBooks Online This role requires the ability to identify and correct bookkeeping errors, not just record transactions ✅ Requirements Prior bookkeeping experience required (multi-client or CPA firm experience strongly preferred) Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is required Solid understanding of accounting principles , including double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and journal entries Proven ability to perform account reconciliations , including bank, credit card, and general ledger tie-outs Experience identifying, analyzing, and correcting bookkeeping errors and misclassifications Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills Proficiency in Excel (basic functions) and data entry (including 10-key) Strong written and verbal communication skills when working with clients and internal team members Reliable, professional, and self-motivated work ethic ⭐ Preferred / Nice-to-Have Experience working in a CPA firm or public accounting environment Exposure to multiple industries or client types Familiarity with additional accounting software platforms Join our growing CPA firm in a key role where your expertise will directly impact the accuracy and integrity of our clients' financial records.
