Job Description

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support daily financial and administrative operations for a mission-driven non-profit organization in North Charleston, South Carolina. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing accounting support with office coordination and record management in a collaborative environment. The person in this role will work closely with finance leadership to help maintain accurate documentation, assist with payment and reporting activities, and keep key financial and operational processes organized.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the finance team with day-to-day administrative and accounting tasks tied to agency programs and departmental operations.
  • Enter, organize, and maintain financial records related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoices, and supporting documentation.
  • Track fixed assets by updating inventories, maintaining related files, and helping ensure records remain accurate and current.
  • Coordinate travel logistics for staff and board members, including arranging itineraries, processing advance requests, and reconciling expense details.
  • Prepare and monitor vehicle titles, registrations, insurance updates, maintenance documentation, and accident claim records.
  • Manage record retention activities by organizing files, coordinating off-site storage, and keeping electronic and archived records up to date.
  • Review operational and utilization reports, route contracts and compliance documents to the appropriate team members, and maintain orderly filing systems.
  • Provide courier and office support such as completing bank deposits, distributing interoffice materials, scanning approved purchasing documents, and handling other assigned tasks. Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in finance, accounting support, or administrative work is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice processing, and data entry practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage records, monitor deadlines, and maintain accuracy across multiple tasks.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, along with comfort using standard office equipment.
  • Experience supporting fixed asset records, document control, or governmental accounting environments is a plus.
  • Valid South Carolina driver's license required.
