Location:
Sumter, SC Position Summary Bryant Industrial is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Accounting & Payroll Specialist to handle day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable, weekly payroll, and certified payroll reporting. Our companies provide industrial construction, steel erection, welding, crane, and rigging services. This position works closely with the Operations Manager and office staff to maintain accurate financial records, meet payroll and reporting deadlines, and track expenses across companies and projects. The ideal candidate has practical accounting and payroll experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the team. QuickBooks experience is preferred. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepare and process weekly payroll following management review and approval. Review employee timesheets for accuracy, including hours worked, overtime, job assignments, and applicable pay rates. Resolve missing or inconsistent timekeeping information before payroll deadlines. Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for projects with prevailing-wage requirements. Maintain supporting payroll records, including employee classifications, wage rates, fringe-benefit information, and required documentation. Enter vendor bills, verify charges against purchase orders and receipts, and prepare payments for management approval. Reconcile vendor statements, investigate discrepancies, and follow up on outstanding issues. Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and assign transactions to the appropriate company, account, and project. Reconcile bank and credit card accounts and report discrepancies to management. Support month-end close, job-cost reporting, and requests from the company's outside accountant. Maintain organized financial and payroll records and coordinate with office staff to ensure project files contain required accounting documentation. Protect confidential employee and company information and communicate issues that could affect payroll, payments, or reporting deadlines. Required Qualifications Previous experience in bookkeeping or accounting support, including payroll processing. Working knowledge of accounts payable, account reconciliation, and financial recordkeeping. Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and consistently meet deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, email, and electronic document management. Strong communication skills and the ability to work with employees, vendors, and management. Professional judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information. Preferred Qualifications Experience with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Payroll. Familiarity with QuickBooks Workforce or QuickBooks Time. Experience preparing certified payroll reports and working with prevailing-wage requirements. Experience in construction, industrial contracting, or another project-based business. Familiarity with job costing and maintaining accounting records for multiple companies. Accounting or bookkeeping coursework, certification, or an associate degree in a related field.
