Job Description

6 Month Contract with potential to permanent position, Full-Time, Charleston, SC As an educational technology company, Hawkes Learning is passionate about helping college students succeed through our innovative courseware. By partnering directly with college professors and recommending personalized learning solutions for their classrooms, we are rapidly expanding the implementation of Hawkes Learning solutions into physical and virtual campuses nationwide. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable Bookkeeper to join our team on a temporary contract basis. This role will support the Finance department by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with monthly close activities, preparing financial reports, managing accounts receivable processes, and supporting tax and audit preparation activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while meeting critical deadlines.
Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly credit card and account reconciliations and assist with monthly financial reporting. Analyze expenses and provide monthly reports and variance information to management. Complete recurring and non-recurring journal entries to support timely month-end close activities (C+5). Assist with tax return preparation, audits, and related follow-up requests. Process customer orders, generate invoices, maintain accounts receivable records, and prepare credit memos. Reconcile customer accounts and follow up on outstanding balances as needed. Partner with Shipping Production to support bi-annual inventory counts and inventory reconciliations. Maintain accurate financial records and provide general accounting support to the CFO and Finance team.
