JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE
: Under the direction of the Director of Student Accounts, the Student Account Clerk is responsible for the collection activity for the college not limited to: contacting students to collect outstanding balances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive payments and issue receipts for student accounts and submit reports. Receive payments and issue receipts for all non-student related payments. Send monthly billing statements to student. Maintaining payment plans. Preparing collection correspondence. Maintain accurate records of all students accounts receivables. Protects Lane College values by keeping information confidential. Work with Controller to ensure a clean and timely yearend audit. Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits and active participation in the organizations mission and values. Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
: BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting or related field of equivalent combination of education and experience in student financial services, collections or accounts receivables. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos and prepare correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to perform basic mathematic functions using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Good communication skills written or oral. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and the job related software, a keyboard, calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, shredder, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and use foot/feet to operate machinery. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
