Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join the SVC team as a Bookkeeper. Sims Venture Capital (SVC) operates as a holding company to service multiple companies, the Bookkeeper will be responsible for overseeing accounting responsibilities for Mountain Empire Agency Alliance and assisting with overflow from additional companies as needed. The Bookkeeper oversees day-to-day accounting operations, manages the accounting operations for their assigned companies, and ensures timely and accurate financial reporting. This role plays a key part in strengthening internal controls, improving processes, and supporting strategic financial decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate can easily organize books from multiple companies, is a team player, and is a fast learner.
Responsibilities:
Maintains bank accounts for day-to-day financial transactions Process all ACH, EFT, and check deposits Oversee general ledger, account payables/receivables and reconciliation Assist Payroll Processing with Third Party Company Reconcile commission statements Administers and conducts month-end close and generates reports; reconciles all cash receipts, bank statements, etc.
Accounts Receivable/Payable:
manage receivables, follow up on aged balances, and process payables Provides management reports as scheduled and requested Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives Support leadership on financial insights Performs other duties as requested and assigned by management
Requirements:
Expert knowledge of general accounting principles Insurance accounting practices and systems experience preferred High school diploma or Associate's degree in accounting or business administration desired, but will consider other prior experience/knowledge 3+ years experience bookkeeping experience Able to prepare, review, and understand a financial statement Ability to travel to Kingsport office Ability to pass a background check Pay commensurate with experience.
