Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Accounting Clerk to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will support the organization's financial operations by managing data entry, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accuracy across various accounting functions. Your proactive approach and strong understanding of financial systems will help maintain the integrity of our financial records, enabling smooth and compliant business processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your accounting expertise within a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Duties Perform data entry for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions using multiple accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Workday. Reconcile bank statements, balance sheets, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end closing processes to support timely financial reporting. Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and customer service inquiries related to billing. Conduct account analysis, account reconciliation, and review of financial data to identify discrepancies or errors for prompt resolution. Handle confidential information with integrity while maintaining strict adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance standards. Support payroll management tasks using systems like ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, or Ceridian; assist with payroll data entry and related documentation. Assist in preparing audit documentation and support external auditors during financial audits or governmental reviews. Utilize Microsoft Office tools such as Excel for data analysis, spreadsheet management, and detailed reporting to facilitate informed decision-making. Skills Strong understanding of accounting principles including GAAP and governmental accounting standards. Proficiency with financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos or UltiPro. Experience with accounting systems integration and familiarity with accounting software like Microsoft Office Suite (Excel data analysis), Spreadsheets, and other financial tools. Excellent numeracy skills combined with the ability to perform account analysis and balance sheet reconciliation accurately. Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, and general ledger reconciliation processes. Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while ensuring compliance with internal controls such as SOX requirements. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in bookkeeping tasks like account reconciliation and month-end closing activities. Effective communication skills for customer service interactions related to billing inquiries or account issues. Demonstrated experience in data entry accuracy (10 key typing) and handling large volumes of transactions efficiently. Basic understanding of tax concepts relevant to corporate or non-profit accounting environments is a plus.
