Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
To provide dedicated support with bookkeeping, financial control, and reporting, related to daily accounting activities, monthly/quarterly/fiscal year-end reporting, receivables, payables, payroll, and tax reporting. The position is accountable for ensuring that accurate financial records are maintained.

A MINIMUM
of TWO (2) YEARS of accounting experience is
REQUIRED.
Experience working in a church environment is a plus.
REPORTING FUNCTION
This position reports directly to the Pastor, Parochial Vicar, and Business Manager.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time, and can include:
  • -Ensure correct coding of accounts payable invoices
  • -Prepare A/P payments weekly
  • -Maintain proper accounting of all general ledger accounts
  • -Ensure correct coding of credit card charges
  • -Reconcile bank statement monthly
  • -Properly code and enter weekly deposits
  • -Input donation information in database
  • -Produce giving letters and statements
  • -Prepare necessary journal entries such as recording void checks, payrolls, stock donations, loan payments, quarterly interest income, correcting entries, etc.
  • -Prepare monthly reports for the Finance Council
  • -Reconcile, prepare, and submit quarterly and yearly reports with accuracy and by required due dates
  • -Other related tasks as assigned
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma required. An undergraduate degree in accounting is a plus. Basic office work experience required. High level of proficiency in working with computers, including Excel, Word, and other financial transactions and planning software. Experience with working with third-party payroll vendors is required. Strong ability in managing and processing large quantities of data. High proficiency in data organization, filtering, and analysis. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PHSYICAL DEMANDS
Filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary, extending arms and reaching files stored in multiple levels on file shelves. Database entry via computer keyboard that requires repetitive hand and wrist movements.
SCOPE OF POSITION
Non-exempt, part-time position (20-25 hours). In person; not remote. The Office is closed on Archdiocesan holidays. Additional benefits will be discussed during the interview. Apply by sending COVER LETTER and RESUME.
