Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant/Estimating Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will support various accounting functions, including data entry, account reconciliation, and financial analysis, while assisting with project estimates and cost evaluations. Your contributions will help ensure accurate financial reporting, streamline payroll management, and uphold compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) standards. Responsibilities Perform data entry and maintain accurate records using accounting software such as QuickBooks and BuilderTrend Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections.. Support payroll management tasks; ensure proper processing of employee hours and deductions. Participate in budgeting activities and provide financial insights for project estimates and cost evaluations. Ensure compliance with internal controls such as SOX requirements and maintain documentation for audit purposes. Assist in tax preparation activities by gathering relevant financial data and supporting documentation. Use technical accounting knowledge to support complex transactions involving debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation. Qualifications Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments with familiarity in financial concepts such as GAAP and governmental accounting standards. Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Workday, Ceridian, ADP or similar platforms; knowledge of payroll management systems is a plus. Strong understanding of accounts payable/receivable processes, balance sheet reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger accounting. Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, credit analysis, and account analysis is highly desirable. Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; familiarity with 10 key typing is preferred. Knowledge of tax regulations related to financial services or non-profit organizations is advantageous. Ability to interpret financial statements accurately while applying technical accounting principles such as debits & credits and double-entry bookkeeping. Pay:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour
