Job Description:
Position Summary The Accounting Specialist supports accounting operations with a focus on commission revenue earned. This includes comparing and reconciling vendor commission reports against company records and vendor contracts, as well as investigating and resolving any order or commission discrepancies identified. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with one to two years of experience who is seeking firsthand experience in a lean, transaction-heavy environment, is detail-oriented, and is looking to grow into increased responsibility over time. Key Responsibilities Commission Revenue Accounting ? Support the accurate accrual and reporting of commission revenue earned. ? Enter order invoice details into the order entry system. ? Prepare reconciliation spreadsheets comparing vendor statements, deductions, and chargebacks against internal commission records. ? Investigate discrepancies and collaborate with sales and operations teams to resolve issues, including communicating with vendors or correcting internal records as needed. ? Prepare narratives summarizing reconciliation results and submit final reports for review. ? Assist in preparing commission statements for vendors as needed. ? Follow up with vendors regarding various matters, such as missing commission reports or missing payments. Other Duties ? Assist with filing accounting documents. ? Maintain all required electronic files and documents (internal and external). ? Maintain organized financial records and backups. ? Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures. ? Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis requests, as well as other accounting and administrative tasks as needed. Qualifications Required ? 1-2 years of accounting work experience. ? Basic understanding and working knowledge in accounting ? Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and basic formulas. Preferred ? Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field ? Experience working in a small lean business environment. ? Experience in food industry accounting (brokerage, wholesale, distribution, etc.). ? Exposure to commission-based accounting, deductions, or promotional spend. ? Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms. Personal Attributes ? Maintains strict confidentiality while performing assigned duties. ?
