Part-Time Bookkeeper —

Action Purpose and Summary of Role:
This role is responsible for managing the daily financial operations, bookkeeping, and financial database administration for our church. This role reports directly to the Senior Pastor and works closely with the Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Finance Board. This is a part-time position working 30 to 35 hours per week. Our beautiful Shoreline location features free on-site parking and offers an easy, convenient commute for candidates living in Shoreline, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mukilteo, and Seattle.
Financial & Bookkeeping Duties:
Accounts Payable:
Process invoices, verify approvals, and issue vendor payments and volunteer reimbursements.
Accounts Receivable:
Secure weekday payments, prepare receipts for bank deposits, and enter all funds into the financial system.
Financial Reporting:
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, board reports, and church budgets.
Database Management:
Administer the Subsplash giving database and sync transaction data accurately with accounting software.
Pledge Campaigns:
Partner with the Stewardship Board to set up, track, and maintain the annual digital pledge campaign.
Tax Compliance:
Prepare, pay, and file quarterly Labor & Industries (L&I) tax reports and other payroll-related tracking.
Records Retention:
Maintain accurate, organized electronic records of all church leases, contracts, vendor agreements, and financial minutes.
Collaboration & Administration Duties:
Leadership Support:
Assist the Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Finance Board Chair in maintaining institutional financial health.
Meeting Preparation:
Assist with compiling financial print materials for monthly council meetings and the three annual congregational meetings.
Volunteer Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with church volunteers, board members, and committee chairs on expense tracking.
Operational Security:
Run background checks for new hires, lower-level building occupants, and specialized ministry volunteers.
General Support:
Fulfill any other financial or database duties as deemed appropriate by the Pastor, Church Moderator, or Vice-Moderator.
Required Qualifications:
2+ years of professional bookkeeping, accounting, or closely related financial experience. Must be highly proficient in QuickBooks Online (mandatory) and standard business software (Microsoft Office, Google Drive). Excellent organization, time management, high attention to financial detail, and strong verbal/written communication skills. Independent self-starter who handles shifting priorities with ease and maintains strict confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Subsplash giving software or similar church donor databases. Prior experience in church or non-profit fund accounting practices.

30 to 35 hours per week (Part-Time)
Pay Range:
$25.00 to $32.00 per hour, depending on experience
