Bookkeeping Specialist About Us:

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and dependable Bookkeeping Specialist to join our team. This full-time position is ideal for someone with a strong accounting background who enjoys working with financial data, balancing complex transactions, and maintaining accurate records. The Bookkeeping Specialist is responsible for a variety of accounting and operational functions, including general ledger reconciliations, ACH and share draft processing, wire transfers, investments, fixed assets, and other daily financial activities that help ensure the smooth operation of the credit union. The ideal candidate possesses excellent analytical skills, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other departments.
Bookkeeping Specialist Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, post, and reconcile daily general ledger transactions related to savings, loans, and other financial activity. Perform daily operational accounting functions including ACH and share draft processing, ATM and debit card settlement, mobile deposit processing, payroll entries and ACH origination. Process incoming and outgoing wire transfers for members and the credit union Reconcile corporate accounts, correspondent accounts and balance sheet accounts. Assist in maintaining and processing credit union certificate investments and related accounting entries. Process monthly fixed assets, depreciation, prepaid expenses and accrual entries. Research, resolve, and document adjustments, errors and other discrepancies. Assist with internal and external audits, examinations, and financial reporting by preparing requested documentation. Provide backup support for accounts payable, including invoice processing and vendor payments. Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, credit union policies, and applicable regulations. Contribute to process improvement initiatives, special projects, and perform other accounting duties as assigned. Maintain member confidentiality and provide professional service when assisting internal and external members.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent accounting experience. Minimum of two years bookkeeping or accounting experience. Financial institution experience and knowledge of ACH processing preferred. Working knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger reconciliation, and financial reporting. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and other Microsoft applications. Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality. Compensation and Benefits.
