Job Description
Company Overview Shepherdstown Day Care is a non-profit Child Development Center that has been serving the community since 1973. Our mission is to provide affordable, nurturing child care for working parents while fostering a safe and stimulating environment that promotes respect and trust. Summary We are seeking a dedicated Bookkeeper to join our team at Shepherdstown Day Care. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, knowledge in QuickBooks and invoicing and payroll. Salary is based on experience. Perform account analysis and general ledger reconciliation on a regular basis. Process accounts payable and receivable transactions efficiently. Prepare financial statements and reports for management review. Assist in budget preparation and monitoring of expenditures. Manage payroll processing and related tax filings. Utilize accounting software like Xero for efficient record-keeping. Collaborate with staff to ensure strong communication regarding financial matters. Requirements Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role within a non-profit organization preferred. Strong understanding of financial concepts and accounting principles (GAAP). Proficiency in account reconciliation, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting. Familiarity with accounting software, particularly Xero, is a plus. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are essential. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and families regarding financial matters.
