Job Description To assist with managing, analyzing and reporting on the University's personnel and operating budgets. May also provide general office support to the OBFP and assist with the daily transactional workload as needed. Knowledge, skills and abilities Considerable knowledge of financial policies, practices, and procedures. Considerable knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques. Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Considerable skills in Microsoft suite, specifically word, database, and spreadsheet programs. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with various levels of management, members of the campus community, and other state agencies. Demonstrated ability to apply and adapt accounting principles and methods to a variety of agency fiscal needs. Demonstrated ability to assemble and analyze large data sets in order to prepare clear and concise financial reports and recommendations for various levels of management. Special licenses, registration or certification None Education or training None Level and type of experience Working experience in accounting or finance. Working experience in preparing, manipulating, analyzing, and reconciling data. Some experience in using automated/electronic financial systems. Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification) Working experience in using automated/electronic financial systems. Some applicable experience in higher education or a large government agency. Prior working experience with Banner for Higher Education, Cognos Reporting, Cardinal, VA Performance Budgeting System or other ERP and Financial Reporting Systems. Working knowledge of budget development, management, and reporting in higher education or governmental entity. Working knowledge of state budget and finance policies, procedures, and systems. Conditions of Employment Position is located on ODU's main campus in Norfolk, VA. Standard hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. This position is required to complete a Statement of Personal Economic Interest upon hire in accordance with the Code of Virginia. This is an open until filled recruitment.
