About Victory Schools:
Victory Schools is a network of high-performing charter and private schools dedicated to academic excellence and fostering the success of every student. We are looking for a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team and oversee the day-to-day operations of our schools and district office.
Position Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as the senior financial leader for Victory Schools and its related educational entities. This role is responsible for the strategic oversight of finance, accounting, budgeting, payroll, compliance, human resources support, risk management, and long-term operational sustainability. The CFO must possess strong expertise in Arizona charter school finance, special education funding, ESA management, and multi-entity financial operations. The ideal candidate understands the complexities of operating autism-focused programs, private schools, online programs, and charter school systems within Arizona's evolving educational landscape. This position requires both high-level strategic leadership and hands-on operational execution. The CFO will work closely with executive leadership to ensure financial stability, regulatory compliance, scalable growth, and responsible stewardship of public and private funds. Financial Leadership & Strategy Lead all financial operations for the organization and affiliated entities. Develop annual budgets, multi-year financial forecasts, and long-range sustainability plans. Present financial reports, projections, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and governing boards. Monitor cash flow, debt obligations, reserves, and operational efficiency across all programs. Develop financial models tied to enrollment growth, staffing ratios, facilities expansion, and new school initiatives. Assist leadership with financial planning related to bond financing, leases, facilities acquisitions, and capital projects. Arizona Charter & ESA Finance Ensure full compliance with the Uniform System of Financial Records for Arizona Charter Schools (USFRCS). Oversee state equalization funding, federal grants, special education reimbursements, and categorical funding streams. Manage ESA-related financial systems and reconciliation processes, including ClassWallet familiarity and audit readiness. Monitor and maximize special education funding opportunities, including autism-related funding weights and IDEA allocations. Coordinate all annual audits, ADE submissions, and Auditor General requirements. Maintain strong knowledge of Arizona Department of Education financial systems and reporting expectations. Accounting & Internal Controls Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close procedures. Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies across all entities. Ensure timely preparation of financial statements and management reports. Supervise annual audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors, legal counsel, and financial consultants. Implement systems that improve financial accuracy, efficiency, transparency, and scalability. Human Resources & Payroll Oversight Provide direct executive oversight of the Human Resources Department, including HR operations, personnel systems, compliance practices, and organizational staffing support. Supervise and support HR leadership to ensure alignment with organizational expectations, policies, employee relations standards, and long-term workforce planning. Oversee payroll systems and ensure accurate compensation practices across multiple entities and employee classifications. Support the HR Director in compensation planning, benefits strategy, staffing analysis, and labor budgeting. Assist leadership with employee retention strategies in highly specialized staffing environments, including autism and special education programs. Ensure personnel documentation and payroll procedures meet state and federal compliance standards. Monitor staffing ratios and labor efficiency while supporting educational quality and student services. QualificationsRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of financial leadership experience. Experience in K-12 education finance, charter schools, nonprofits, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries. Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, payroll, audits, and financial reporting. Experience managing multi-department or multi-entity financial operations. Strong organizational leadership and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications CPA, MBA, or related advanced credential strongly preferred. Experience with Arizona charter school finance and ADE systems preferred. Familiarity with ESA funding, special education finance, and autism program operations preferred. Experience with fund accounting software such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or similar platforms. Experience supporting facilities financing, debt management, or large-scale operational growth. President's Summary The successful CFO must balance mission-driven educational leadership with disciplined financial stewardship to support long-term organizational growth and stability.
