About the Organization My client is a large, state-affiliated healthcare organization serving over 2 million members in a major California market. The organization is focused on expanding access to care for underserved populations and operates within a highly regulated environment. Role Overview The Deputy CFO is a senior finance executive responsible for driving financial strategy, operational performance, and long-term sustainability. Reporting to the CFO, this role serves as a key advisor to executive leadership and oversees FP&A, Procurement, and Payment Operations. This position emphasizes forward-looking strategy, including enterprise planning, forecasting, capital allocation, and process optimization, while aligning financial decisions with organizational priorities. Key Responsibilities Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes Oversee treasury, cash flow, and investment strategy Drive procurement transformation and spend optimization Manage payment systems and operational efficiency Advise leadership with data-driven financial insights Support board-level reporting, financial modeling, and strategy Assess impacts of regulatory and reimbursement changes Partner with external agencies and industry groups Build and lead high-performing finance teams Operate effectively within a matrixed organization
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's in Finance or related field (required) MBA or advanced degree (preferred)
Experience:
10+ years in senior finance leadership 10+ years managing teams Experience in complex, regulated environments Exposure to government or external regulatory entities
Preferred:
Healthcare or public-sector experience Familiarity with government-sponsored programs Board or executive reporting experience Skills & Credentials Strong leadership, financial, and analytical capabilities Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to influence across teams without direct authority CPA (preferred) Additional Information Light physical requirements Compensation based on experience and market factors Benefits PTO, retirement plans, and full health coverage Tuition reimbursement and wellness programs Volunteer time off
